20081109 Lest We Forget … Bilton Remembrance Day Parade

20081109 Lest We Forget … Bilton Remembrance Day Parade
When : 09 November 2008
Who : Bilton Silver Band, Royal British Legion, Scout and Guide Associations and other organisations.
Where : Bilton, Rugby – Warwickshire – England.

Although I didn’t take part in the actual walk/parade through Bilton Village I think it’s important that we remember those who laid down their lives for our country, especially during the 1st and 2nd world wars,  to uphold our values and ideals,  but also other conflicts since.

It was obvious there are many like minded people, as a large contingent turned out, to brave the chilly but dry weather to march, watch and attend the service at St. Marks Church in Bilton.

There were so many in attendance, that there was standing room only for many of the congregation.

The parade, as always, was led by Bilton (Rugby) Silver Band, followed by members of the Royal British Legion and other local organisations including The Scout and Guide Associations.

Maybe in this day and age of bad publicity for our youth, it needs to be highlighted that we have good kids that turn out for events like this. Perhaps the memory of our fallen will still be remembered for another generation. Enough said really.

I’ve also posted some short video snippets on you tube if you want to hear the band play, links as following.
Thank-you for reading.
